Human Movement Studies

The Human Movement Studies (HMS) is a section at NSI and also a Division of the Institute of TVET as an affiliate with the University Of Goroka (UOG) through a Memorandum of Understanding.

The Section has developed relevant Physical Education (PE) sports courses at Certificate, Diploma, and Bachelor levels. These courses are developed and will be conducted in conjunction NSI and UOG.

The main role is to deliver physical education and teacher education programs. HMS also assist Sports Excellence to provide qualification courses to improve the standard knowledge for volunteers, coaches, athletes and sport administrators.

The Section is also responsible for rolling out the School Leadership Camp, an initiative of the Institute, to engage primary school students in leadership programs through a 3 – 5 days camp. The initiative aims to nurture children’s sense of responsibility and their ability to lead.

Currently the HMS Section team comprises of Ms. Kylie Martins – Head Of Department, Mr. Mike Smith – Lecturer, and Ms Naku Kewa – Lecturer.
